The film attempts an interesting narrative technique where the audience are shown the same event from the points of view of various different characters, each time being given a bit more of the puzzle. But it just doesn’t work. All character allegiances can be figured out from the outset. It’s boring and predictable.

The real joke with the film is the last act when all the strands come together for the final melee. It’s such an unbelievably contrived load of nonsense with so many plot holes that you can only laugh at how amateur it all is. Almost solely for the inadvertent comedy I give it 1 crumb out of 10.

It’s a nice story and there are some very good performances, particularly from Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker as you’d expect. It tries to be an inspirational and emotional tale but to me it felt like a poor version of Dead Poet’s Society. 5 crumbs out of 10.
