Spain Win Euro 2008
Three wins out of three in the group stages. In the quarter-finals they completely outplayed arch-rivals Italy and eventually won on penalties. They demolished Russia in the semi-finals and then today they outclassed Germany in the final, winning 1-0 for their third consecutive clean sheet in the knockout stage. (read more…)


Euro 2008
Most of the major soccer tournaments in recent years have been rubbish. Generally just one or two good teams and then a load of dross. Hopefully this one will be a bit better. (read more…)


Aintree Grand National
One of the great spectacles in sport happens today - the English Grand National at Aintree Racecourse. A lot of people mistakenly think that the race is a bit of a lottery, what with having 40 horses in it but that’s not the case. Every year there can be many horses who can be pretty confidently ruled out to narrow down the field and this year is no exception. (read more…)

Las Vegas
We all know the old saying - what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas! So obviously I can’t reveal too much about the last few days which I spent there. We stayed in the Planet Hollywood which was quite nice. A discreet $20 tip to the check-in clerk got us a room upgrade. Sleeping was kept to a minimum each day and only occurred a couple of hours each side of noon. (read more…)

Kitsilano, Poker and The X-Files
Did some boring stuff this morning like opening a bank account and getting a cellphone. Helped out a couple of tourists looking for directions even though I’ve only been here three days myself.
