Be Kind Rewind
I was looking forward to this Michel Gondry film but ultimately I left disappointed. There’s no doubt that Gondry is a whizz behind the camera but his attempts at writing are sketchy. If he just stuck to directing Charlie Kaufman scripts then he’d be a legend. But of course Kaufman has moved on to directing his own work now.

Be Kind Rewind is about two video store clerks who need to improvise and film their own versions of classic movies in order to save their asses after all the VHS tapes in the store become demagnetised. Most of the scenes of them re-enacting these movies are pretty funny but apart from that the film tries to be a sweet and endearing tale and I just didn’t care much for it. 4 crumbs out of 10.
