Vantage Point
Haha, what an embarrassingly pathetic film this is. Really, really awful. I don’t know what actors like Forest Whitaker, Eduardo Noriega and William Hurt are doing signing up for this crap. (read more…)

Spurs Win The Carling Cup!
Woooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!
Our first trophy since winning the same cup in 1999. Chelsea thought they could win four trophies this season. Well they can scratch this one off the list. Spurs outplayed them and deservedly won. (read more…)

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
I love the dark style of Tim Burton and I’ve nothing against a good musical every now and then but for some reason I didn’t really connect with this film. I’m sure that if I give it another chance I’ll appreciate the music more but when watching it I kept waiting impatiently for each song to finish. It felt to me that what was achieved with a three minute song could have been done with a couple of lines of dialogue. (read more…)

Be Kind Rewind
I was looking forward to this Michel Gondry film but ultimately I left disappointed. There’s no doubt that Gondry is a whizz behind the camera but his attempts at writing are sketchy. If he just stuck to directing Charlie Kaufman scripts then he’d be a legend. But of course Kaufman has moved on to directing his own work now. (read more…)

The Good Girl

Where I live in Vancouver
(1) This is the planet Earth, a mostly harmless rocky body of gloop and stuff which formed about 4.54 billion years ago in the Milky Way galaxy. On its face you can see the continent of North America. (read more…)

In Bruges
We’ve all seen film trailers which looked promising only for the film to turn out to be a stinking pile of rubbish. Similarly we’ve all seen trailers that look dreadful and sure enough, the film turns out to be another stinking pile of rubbish. In Bruges is one of those rarities where the trailer made it seem like a dire film but it actually turned out to be pretty good. (read more…)

Las Vegas
We all know the old saying – what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas! So obviously I can’t reveal too much about the last few days which I spent there. We stayed in the Planet Hollywood which was quite nice. A discreet $20 tip to the check-in clerk got us a room upgrade. Sleeping was kept to a minimum each day and only occurred a couple of hours each side of noon. (read more…)

Bridge to Terabithia
I rewatched this film yet again today and it still causes a buildup of some kind of watery substance around my eyes. I must go to a doctor to get that checked out. This is one of those films that will always be seen by way less people than should see it, which is a shame because it’s such a gem. (read more…)
