What do you get if you cross The Blair Witch Project with the 9/11 attacks on New York? Cloverfield!!! This film is shot from the perspective of someone holding a small handheld camcorder so if you’re one of those weirdos who doesn’t like crazy shaky-cam action then you should definitely not see this.

Cloverfield had a big viral marketing campaign for months before its release and had lots of people wondering about what this big monster was that was destroying New York City. Some of those people will probably be disappointed with the film but they just won’t have gotten the point. This film is nothing to do with the monster. It’s about the reaction of people in a mass hysteria environment.

We follow one group of people who are still in the city because one dude won’t leave without making sure his ex-girlfriend is safe. What a pansy! Overall the film is a lot of fun. The effects are very good and I liked the ending. 6 crumbs out of 10.
