Control

Control is a biopic about Ian Curtis, the lead singer of late 70s Manchester band Joy Division. Shot in black and white, the film follows Curtis’s life from his schooldays to him joining the band to their success and to his suicide in 1980 aged just 23. Among this time, he got married, had a kid and had to cope with having epilepsy while dealing with his fame.

Control

Sam Riley is captivating as the troubled Curtis and Samantha Morton as his wife is brilliant as always. Fans of Joy Division like me will enjoy the musical performances but non fans should appreciate the film too. 6 crumbs out of 10.
