Michael Clayton
Written and directed by Tony Gilroy, who scribed the adapted screenplays for the three Bourne films, Michael Clayton is a very different kind of thriller. It’s a more sedately paced piece, dealing with a specialist lawyer (George Clooney) who does the behind-the-scenes dirty work for his firm which represents some large and important clients.

Moral ambiguity pervades the film and Clooney’s character is our focus point among the different perspectives on corruption and truth. His changing thoughts are rarely expressed to us through dialogue or exposition. We need to pay close attention to him. Clooney carries the film very well and the supporting cast is excellent, notably Tom Wilkinson and Tilda Swinton. It gets 6 crumbs out of 10.
